Parent Training
Parent Training
Parents are integral to the success of each child. Children’s Milestone strives to include parents in all aspects of therapy, from goal and objective development, to treatment strategies and behavior management skills. The consistency of programming across settings is our ultimate aim. The Children’s Milestone Supervisor is available to train parents in behavior management, and the application of discrete trial training to become part of the child’s therapy team. We will use the regular team meetings to share information, raise questions and concerns, and plan intervention strategies. You can expect your child to show progress in the areas of his/her goals over time, and we will monitor the progress with regular data collection. We aim to help your child realize their full potential, find ways to interact with others, participate in school and social opportunities, and thrive in today’s society. We also provide a free 10-hour online introduction to ABA parent video training.

Social Skills Training (SST) refers to a wide range of interventions and instructional methods to help individuals understand and improve social skills. Social skills training addresses a wide range of social skills. While there are many different ways to define social skills, SST focuses on the rules and behaviors that help individuals interact. Teaching appropriate social skills is an integral part of effective autism intervention. Some examples of skills targeted in SST programs include: initiating conversations, greetings, proper eye contact, behavior in specific social and community settings, understanding emotions and facial expressions, gestures and body language assertiveness, and empathy.
